We are excited to share that researcher Helena Honkaniemi-Hoppe has received her first research grant as Principal Investigator from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (The Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation).

“Parental leave and mental health across the life course: Investigating the introduction and expansion of the Swedish parental leave system”

The project will examine the long-term effects of parental leave eligibility and uptake on the mental health of mothers, fathers, and children. Using Sweden’s extensive administrative registers, the research team will be able to track mental health outcomes up to 50 years after the introduction of Sweden’s pioneering gender-neutral parental leave system in the 1970s.
