Infrastructure

In the coming years, our main efforts at CHESS will be devoted to building new research infrastructure. Guided by our recently established research programme – EQUITY 2000 – we are working to make data on health inequalities more accessible for researchers, policy makers, and practitioners.

EQUITY 2000

silhouette looking future

EQUITY 2000 is a newly established research programme that examines the development of health inequalities in Sweden since the turn of the millennium.

EQUITY 2000 seeks to advance our understanding of the interplay between social and biological processes in the formation of health inequalities, with particular focus on the role of welfare state policies and societal institutions. The programme also addresses the role of new and emerging public health challenges, including global and national trends such as the climate crisis, ageing populations, and international migration.

EQUINODE

demographic census concept representation

EQUINODE is a forthcoming interactive, web-based tool designed to visualise data on social inequalities in health in Sweden.

EQUINODE will serve as a user-friendly and adaptable resource for anyone interested in understanding health inequalities in Sweden, including the general public, policymakers, public health practitioners, and students of public health sciences.

EQUINODE launches in the spring of 2026.
